AGCSA Board of Directors Committees & Responsibilities

I. Membership Chairmen (3) Dennis James, Rodney Guy and Mike Posey

a. position to be held by president and vendor board member

b. set membership goals for 2011

c. retention of current members

d. recruitment of new members

i. create target list of prospective members consisting of all superintendents, assistants, vendors, and turf students who are currently not members

ii. work with Melanie on sending information packets to prospective members

e. work with Melanie on sending welcoming packet to new members

f. contact new members and welcome them to the association

g. announce new members at their first meeting

h. collect and analyze member feedback from surveys

i. report membership statistics at annual meeting

j. work with Melanie on announcing new members in Alabama Green

k. evaluate membership classes and dues and make recommendations to the board

II. Meetings Coordinators (4) David DeWeese, Rodney Guy, Scott McElroy and Jim Simmons, CGCS

a. responsible for meeting sites and dates

b. responsible for education at meetings

i. setup speaker

ii. work with Melanie on speaker arrangements, i.e. audiovisual needs, pesticide points, CEU’s, mileage reimbursement and any other associated needs

iii. thank you notes to speakers

c. responsible for food and beverage at meetings

i. work with site food and beverage manager on meeting setup, i.e. signup table, presentation setup, and audiovisual needs

ii. setup continental breakfast, lunch, and hors’ d’oeurves and maintain pricing within established guidelines

d. responsible for golf outings at meetings

i. predetermine golf format for each site, maintaining a good mix of formats throughout the year

ii. work with pro staff on format, setup, payouts, etc.

iii. present gift certificates after golf

e. evaluate food and beverage guidelines and golf payouts and make recommendations to board

f. responsible for getting sponsor signs to meetings and out on the course

III. GCSAA Liason (1) Mike Posey

a. position to be held by vice-president so that he or she is more informed about GCSAA when serving as president

b. attend chapter delegates meeting in Kansas

c. keep board up to date on GCSAA news

d. work with Communication Committee Chairman on putting GCSAA news in Alabama Green and on AGCSA website

IV. Donnie Arthur Tournament Chairman (2) Mike Posey and Casey Rowell

a. work with Meetings Coordinator on site and date for Donnie Arthur tournament

b. establish Donnie Arthur tournament committee

c. schedule meeting dates and agendas for committee meetings

d. coordinate fundraising activities with Melanie

e. coordinate all tournament events with site food and beverage manager and professional staff

V. Scholarship Chairman(2) Lee Bailey, Donny Dockery

a. promote legacy scholarships in the Alabama Green and on the website

b. promote turfgrass scholarships to turfgrass programs in the southeast

c. review applications from candidates for turfgrass and legacy scholarships and present recommendations to the board

VI. Communications Chairman (3) Mike Posey, Donny Dockery and Jonathan Gruber

a. responsible for Alabama Green and AGCSA website content

b. work with Melanie on material for Alabama Green

c. work with Melanie on keeping the website up to date; make recommendations on changes or data that should be added.

VII. ATRF Liason(1) David DeWeese

a. communicate with ATRF board on current research/news

b. keep board up to date on ATRF news

c. work with Communication Committee Chairman on putting ATRF news in Alabama Green and on AGCSA website

VIII. Distinguished Service Committee - Board
